Title: Underneath
"I first met Jean Riordan when she was involved in a local arts guild. Over the years, while she has attended some of my classes, I have seen the inner artist emerge in her work. Last year, I purchased one of Jean's pieces that had caught my eye at a show in her home. It is a watercolor that is handled with such a carefree manner, that I just had to have it! Jean's approach to painting is experimental, and because of that her patterns, and colors come from an inner source that she is able to tap into. Not all painters can access that place where natural design, color and passion merge, but I see it in her work.
Jean separates herself from others in the way that she observes and is able to playfully express what interests her in a painting. I have a very small home, space is at a minimum and her piece is carefully placed in my home. " — Molly Davis

Title: Hacienda La Alegria
"I own one of Jean Riordan's larger paintings and several smaller pieces of varing sizes; they hang in my home. Guests are always taken with them and each person seems to have a "favorite." They often approach their "special piece," scrutinize it, and then seat themselves so that they have a direct view of it. I have three personal favorites myself, and they never cease to make me smile. Jean has a unique way of capturing the beauty of both nature and symbolism, e.g., her rendering of a tree of life with birds tucked in the branches. I cannot tell you how many of my guests linger in that part of my home, just taking in the beauty of that painting. Me, too! I recently acquired her painting of "Hacienda La Alegria." I plan to display it in the entrance hall of my new home in the Southwest. I cannot think of a better way to welcome guests to my home than with this painting." — Lynn Snyder
Title: Happy Boy
"I own 10 pieces of Jean's art, both watercolors and oils. If I had more wall-hanging space, I would buy Summer Evening or maybe, as suggested, I will buy Summer Evening and start rotating. I am particularly fond of Jean's impressionistic landscapes, the way she used reflecting pools in her compositions and her vibrant color choices. Jean has a unique and passionate way of seeing beauty all around her and because of how she sees the world, her paintings are filled with movement, stillness, are visually pleasing and make me feel good like this painting Happy Boy!"
