About the Artist
Jean has been involved in and has won awards in numerous mediums throughout her life. Many years ago she started with painting and general design, winning first place in a Scholastic Art Contest while in high school.
While in college, studies in the social sciences and a career in speech pathology and learning disabilities took her away from painting for many years; however during this time Jean made silver jewelry and wearable art. She still loves texture and pattern, and it shows in her painting. Currently, Jean tries to fit it all in. Focus though is still on painting in oil and watercolor. She transfers her love of pattern and texture to these mediums. Many of her paintings reflect her travels and the wonderous scenes and people she meets. Nature, particularly in it's moveable aspects are important to her--water, clouds and always trees in any season. Painting what are called "Live Stills," Jean focuses on a part of a scene, like the offering bowl on a stone wall in Bali. Jean paints what she loves, some examples of which you can see on this website. For her it is a challenge and a personal exploration that has been guided by input from friends along the way, from gift certificates for books to the suggestion to try oil painting, something never originally on the horizon. Jean also will do custom work and commissions, painting what is dear to others as well. Please feel free to contact her with comments or questions. |
